Soulitude Album Review
HERE IS THE NEWEST REVIEW OF THE "SOULITUDE" EP:
Soulitude is the first release of Dennis Michael Foley, an
emerging singer/songwriter recording and performing in Houston, Texas. Released
in March of 2014, this 7 song EP is full of surprises, all good. Recorded at
SugarHill Recording Studios, in Houston the quality of the music and the
players involved shines through from start to finish. Engineered and
co-produced by Andy Bradley and featuring veteran composer and keyboardist,
Paul English on B3, piano and Wurlitzer, Kenny Cordray, Texas blues rocker on guitars,
and relative unknown (why?!!) Yusef Elkourchi on bass guitar, the musicianship
is excellent. David Caceres, saxaphone player, is amazing on "Pleasure
That You Sell" and "Can't You See It's Love". These two songs
are closer to a RnB/smooth jazz style.
Track 1, "Heartbeat" has what I call a
"sticky" quality overall, meaning it gets stuck in your head. It,
like most songs on Soulitude, defies clear classification into one genre. A
nice blend of pop and country similar to Take It Easy, the quintessential Eagles
track that captured folk music lovers, country and pop fans across the nation
back in 70's. Released in January as a single.
Michael's songwriting for this project is deliberate and well
constructed, each song evokes emotion and the intended message comes through. I
look forward to hearing more variety of subject matter in the near future but
Michael's plan was to write about the age old topic of Love and relationships.
While well done, I personally prefer more of a storytelling approach to writing.
Soulitude is certainly worth your time. You can pick up a free

the site). Pretty hard to beat! As well, the video of Heartbeat is also nicely

Welcome to the Official DENNIS MICHAEL MUSIC BLOG!! This blog is place to bookmark, as we will be keeping up with all News and Information related to the music of Dennis Michael. Though I did not produce the new Dennis Michael CD entitled "Soulitude", I was fortunate to able to do the final mastering on the project and Dennis and his band did a great job on the recording, thanks to Producer Andy Bradley, who did an amazing job recording and mixing this album at Sugar Hill Recording in Houston, Texas. Dennis has always been very talented and ahead of his time in many ways. I remember back in the early 90's hanging out with Dennis and playing 7th Guest on a brand new 386 computer!! We had some really fun times and Dennis has ALWAYS been there for me throughout my life and has NEVER let me down. That says a lot considering his is also a musician, right? lol We have worked on music and other projects together and he is a great friend and a stable person that I can count on to tell me if I'm F'ing up.... :O)
I'm sure that Dennis won't mind me sharing personal stories on this blog from time to time, because we have had some experiences to remember. Oh yeah, by the way..... my name is Robbi Spencer and I am a close personal friend of Dennis Michael and my wife Shirl Spencer and I work for Dennis and do all of the website work and multimedia, minus the filming and so on.... We take this work very seriously and though Dennis and I are friends, he pays us good money to do this work and expects results. I WILL NOT SETTLE FOR ANY LESS THAN PERFECTION!!! Obviously, since I am human.... I am sooooooo not perfect, but I go out of my way to make things happen when I really believe in them.
